Fort Snelling State Park, Minnesota. 10/12/2014.
In response to all that is going on in the aftermath of the shooting of Mike Brown, racism and police brutality are major issues in America that cannot be ignored any longer.
There has been an alarming trend of police officers disproportionately targeting non-white people and carrying out executions over the slightest perceived provocation, and many times these perceptions turn out to be false. It is as though police forces try to be “proactive” and prevent crime from occurring, and that requires assuming all people of certain types are criminals. Black men in particular are perceived as naturally dangerous, aggressive, and inclined toward criminal activity, and thus so many innocent black men have been targeted and even killed by police. This is racial profiling on a massive scale, often with fatal consequences.
The Ferguson shooting is not an isolated incident; it is part of a major problem that needs to be solved. The deaths of innocent people and terrorization of minority communities should not be considered mere collateral damage in a war on crime. America’s criminal justice system must be revamped, and we must rework our current social structure that places white men at an unfair advantage over other groups of people. Social injustice, especially racism, is alive and well, and we can no longer tolerate or ignore it. Action must be taken, peace must be sought, and justice and equality must be achieved.
Rest in Peace, Robin Williams.

Anybody else notice how in the notorious “Sonic Sez” segment about harassment, Sonic tells the viewers what to do if someone harasses them, but doesn’t tell them not to harass people themselves?
